My name is Mary-Kate Kelty and I am currently a senior at Presentation Academy. My project, Reading in The Dark, is designed to help kids who are blind.
I will be designing and 3d printing braille children's books. Why did I choose to work with the blind community? I chose this project because I knew I wanted to have a project centered around helping others. I am planning on becoming an engineer and I chose this career path because I want to help others and people in my community. I realized that my community had a lot of diversity and a culture that I wanted to learn more about was the blind community.
In this endeavor, wanted to combine my love for designing and engineering. Reading in the Dark is my way to help others, give back to my community, and enhance my engineering skills.
